TEMPORARY GRADUATE VISA

SUBCLASS 485

This visa is for international students who recently graduated from an Australian education institution.

Temporary graduate visa holders may use the time given on this visa to build up skills and requirements necessary to meet the criteria to apply for a permanent visa in Australia.

ELIGIBILITY:

You must:

  • Be under 50 years old

  • Hold an eligible visa

  • Have recently graduated from CRICOS registered course

  • Meet additional requirements

  • Make your application within 6 months of your graduation

  • Complete at least 2 years of study in Australia

  • Have competent English level (IELTS 6)

  • You must hold an eligible visa to apply for this visa as the primary applicant.

The qualification must either:

  • Relate to an occupation on the skilled occupation list (Graduate Work stream)

  • Be a higher education degree (Post-Study Work stream)

LENGTH OF STAY

​

  • Graduate Work stream – 18 months

  • Post-Study Work stream – two to four years

GRADUATE VISA (476)

​

This visa allows recent engineering graduates of recognised institutions to gain up to 18 months of skilled work experience.

You must:

  • be under 31 years of age

  • have completed an engineering degree at a recognised institution in the past two years.
